Washington (eCanadaNow) - Google announced on Tuesday the launch of their Google App Engine. The beta test was open to the first 10,000 developers to sign up, and will come with limited storage, bandwith and e-mail capabilities. Many are still excited to get their hands on the new Google online development software to help build and run Web applications.
Google App Engine includes online storage, Web serving, as well as automatic scaling and load balancing.
Developers are also given access to Google authentication and e-mail APIs, as well as a local development environment.
Google believes that this new servic will allow startup developers to get off the ground easier.
Google product manager Paul McDonald wrote in a blog post that “Google App Engine gives you access to the same building blocks that Google uses for its own applications, making it easier to build an application that runs reliably, even under heavy load and with large amounts of data.”
During the beta period, applications are limited to 500MB of storage, 200 million megacycles of CPU per day, as well as 2,000 e-mails per day and 10GB of bandwith per day.
The Google App Engine applications are expected to be able to handle 5 million page views each month.
